Fried Cheese PopsThere's something irresistible about deep-fried cheese. Whether it's the buttery batter, the gooey, melted cheese, or fond childhood memories of going to the fair...fried cheese is a favorite indulgence of mine. Since state fairs only come around once or twice a year, why not make these popular treats at home! Here is a simple 6-step recipe for delicious deep-fried cheese pops.

Make Fried Cheese Pops
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. muenster or monterey jack cheese, cut into 3/4″ cubes
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 1/4 cup beer or water
- 2 cups oil for frying
Directions:
Step 1: Press sucker sticks into the center of each cheese cube.

Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking soda, salt, lemon juice and beer. Add more beer, if needed, until the mixture is about the thickness of pancake batter.
Step 3: Dip cheese sticks into the batter, completely covering the cheese with the batter.
Fried Cheese PopsStep 4: Heat oil in a small pot to medium heat.
Step 5: Dip the cheese portion of each stick into the hot oil, just until golden brown (about 20-30 seconds).
