Nibbles & Bites: Your Wedding Menu Needs These Mini Foods

ByRachel Wilkerson, Lover.ly
Food is one of the most important aspects of your wedding reception (and it's likely the most expensive!), so you want to get it right. One of the best ways to get creative with your food is through minis. Though mini-foods have become trendy in recent years, there's still room for surprising and delighting your guests. Here are our favorite new takes on wedding bites.

1. Trendy and tiny: chicken and waffles. Chicken and waffles are everywhere these days, so having them at your wedding seems like the next logical step. And by shrinking this sweet-and-savory combo, you can really up the fun factor.

2. Mini pies are good...but mini pies on sticks are even better! We still love cake pops, but pie pops are the way to do dessert on a stick in 2013. It adds a sweet, homegrown feel to a rustic or vintage wedding and is a good alternative for non-chocolate lovers. (Yes, they exist.)

3. When it comes to sliders, think beyond beef. The slider will never go out of style, but couples are updating it by swapping pork, chicken, and thinly-sliced roast beef for the basic burger. Get creative with toppings (think pulled pork topped with an Asian-style slaw or roast beef with caramelized onions and blue cheese) to give guests the best bites.

4. Serve any food in style with special packaging. There's nothing super exciting about fries on their own, but by putting them in adorable mini-cones, they suddenly become incredibly chic. (And a good variety of dipping sauces, like garlic rosemary aioli and chipotle mustard, makes them unforgettable!) Things like mini mugs and brightly-colored straws breathe new life into classic foods.
