    Pretty in Pink: 8 Festive Cookies for Valentine's Day

    Ingredients:
    3 sticks unsalted butter, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 3 cups flour, 1 tsp lemon zest, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp vanilla ... more

    Shortbread Hearts with Pink Frosting
    Ingredients:
    3 sticks unsalted butter, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 3 cups flour, 1 tsp lemon zest, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    For the Frosting:
    1 stick of butter, 3 cups confectioners' sugar, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 2 tbsp milk
    Directions:
    1. Cream the butter, sugar and lemon zest in an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add vanilla on low speed. Spoon in the flour and salt, mixing just until the dough forms. Chill dough for 3 hours.
    2. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to 1/8″ thickness and cut shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on a lined cookie sheet for 20 minutes.
    3. For icing, cream the butter and confectioners' s

    sugar until smooth. Add in vanilla extract and milk and whip the frosting until it is light and fluffy. Add gel paste to color the frosting. Frost the cooled cookies and serve!
