I have not had ice cream at any of the shops listed. My favorite, by far, is Herrels in Northhampton, MA. In polls of experts, it is often listed as one of the three best in this country. Their malted vanilla is magnificent.

Your picture of the girl with long straggly hair without a hairnet turned me off.

I've been to lots of ice cream joints and have been pretty picky. Christina's is definitely the best around Boston, but the best I've ever eaten is from CONES in New York City, in Greenwich Village. It's right on Bleeker and Morton Streets. The quality was unmatched by any previous ice cream experience in my life.

I went to this one place in San Francisco not too long ago that had Purple Yam and Avocado flavors. It was actually pretty good!

I checked in to make sure Pazzo Gelato (Los Angeles) was included...for those of you who have not been, their treats are simply to die for. Worth every calorie...

Sad to see that Creole Creamery in New Orleans isn't listed! They have over 25 flavors created in house that change every week... from the insanely delicious (Mexican hot chocolate fudge) to the decadent (red velvet cake) to the weird-but-delicious (lavender honey or olive oil gelato), you'll rarely see the same flavors twice! Plus, with their shakes, malts and famous Tchoupitoulas Sundae ("a sundae as big as its name - our most outrageous specialty made with eight scoops of ice cream and your choice of eight toppings served in grand fashion with whipped cream and cherries"), you may never leave!

Mmmmm!!! Christina's is delicious! I love the peanut butter chip! I'm a huge fan of Fenton's in Oakland, Ca and Cobby's in Cape Cod, Ma too! Both should be on the list!

any custard stand that sells custard...leon's, gilley's, roberts...all of which are in WI. In a pinch for a home state blast, the Wisconsin Custard Store by Ikea in Northern VA. Once you've tasted custard, nothing else can come close to it. YUM

    • topguy10  •  3 years 0 months ago
I'm not into exotic/spice/oils etc flavors for ice cream myself. I might like some flavors if I tried them, but I'd probably go for the more less ventured ones ;-) My pic for best:

Marianne's in Santa Cruz, CA. They have been there for at least 40 years. They still have some of the original flavors that I got when I was a kid although they recently discontinued Bavarian Mint which was out of this world!

Anyone knows that the best ice cream in the East is found at the Penn State University Creamery. It's so good and rich, they can't sell it retail anywhere else except at University Park.
