What does your favorite Girl Scout cookie say about you?

It's that time again -- Girl Scout Cookie season! The first official Girl Scout cookie was a sugar cookie, introduced in The American Girl magazine in 1922. Through the years, Girl Scout-licensed bakeries have churned out a wide array of cookie varieties. To herald this annual tradition of goodwill, girl power, and guilty pleasures, BHG.com has put together utterly subjective Girl Scout Cookie Personality Profiles for your delectation. See if they resonate with you, and dish with us in the comments about your favorites!

    Trefoils
Shortbread cookie in the shape of the official Girl Scout trefoil logo
You don't chase trends -- you stick with what's classic. You keep things simple, cherish your family traditions, and can probably knit a scarf. You like to entertain, and whether throwing a casual BBQ or a dinner party for 8, you pull it off with grace, decorum, and attention to detail. Your style icons are Jackie O. or Don Draper, and while you aren't a Luddite, you probably prefer scrapbooks to Facebook.

    Thin Mints
Minty chocolate wafers with a chocolate coating
With that minty breath, you are popular, magnetic, the center of attention. Mirroring your cookie of choice, you have a smooth, even disposition with just a bit of bite. Your brisk, outgoing attitude and whip-smart sense of humor ensure that you're never without plans on a Friday night -- but you're also confident enough to roll solo.

    Do-Si-Dos
Crunchy oatmeal cookies with a creamy peanut butter center
You are mellow, genial, and easy-to-please. A bit of a homebody, you like to be surrounded by close friends, home-cooked meals, and high-quality scented candles. You tend to be a diplomat and a peacemaker, whether at work, on the home front, or when airing your grievances with the cable company. You manage to be mature and responsible without being judge-y -- an appealing combo.

    Tagalongs

Chocolate-covered vanilla cookies with peanut butter layers
You live to laugh -- you don't take yourself too seriously, and you take life's challenges in stride. Like the chocolate-peanut butter of the Tagalong, you have an intriguing duality. One side of you is smooth, relaxed, and easygoing, while you also have a dark side, one that likes to ponder life's deeper meanings and philosophical quagmires. You snap out of it quickly, though, especially when cookies are present.

    Samoas (pictured above)
Vanilla cookies coated in caramel, toasted coconut, and chocolate stripes
You're a natural born epicure who gravitates towards the finer things in life. Never one to shy away from excess, you're a freewheeling bon vivant with a large network of loyal friends and admirers. Thoughtful, creative, and discerning, you may err on the side of snobby, but luckily you're charming enough to get away with it.

    Lemon Chalet Cremes
Vanilla cookies with cinnamon-ginger spice and lemon creme filling
Everything in moderation -- even cookies. You care deeply about feeding your mind, body, and soul and strive to live a healthy, happy lifestyle. You're an intuitive listener, you love animals and the outdoors, and you're extremely sensitive -- you may find yourself sobbing through particularly emotional episodes of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.

    Thank You Berry Munch
A 2010 debut cookie, with cranberries and white fudge chunks
You've got a bit of an edge -- you're a maverick, a person of diverse tastes and interests. Impulsive and full of energy, you might be hiking Mount Kilimangaro one week, the next engaged in a chicken-wing-eating competition. A pop culture savant, you're always on to the next big thing in food, fashion, movies, and music. While you may get bored easily, you're never boring. Viva variety!

uhhhhh, m'am? GK would have a few things to say to you about this. let's leave it at: jolene might be a genius, but she blew it on discounting the greatness of tagalongs as a people.

girl scouts uses 2 bakers- little brownie and ABC Smart, thus, there are different flavors/names--
      Thin Mints- same for each
      Samoas/Caramel DeLights- coconut caramel ones
TagaLongs/ Peanut butter patties- The chocolate+peanut butter ones
      Trefoils/ Shortbread- shortbread cookies
DoSiDoes/Peanut butter sandwiches- i am pretty sure they are similar- peanut butter ore type cookies
      unmentioned Different ones:
Lemonades- lemon flavor but looks different than the chalets
Thanks a lots- shortbread with chocolate on the bottom
NEW*- Shout outs--- Belgian style cookies with a bit of caramel flavor
so if you think there are some missing- they go by different names + other flavors are not mentioned :)

mc: I sold Girl Scout cookies when I was little in the 80s and early 90s. They went by the names listed above. Somewhere in the oughts (this past decade) I found out they were all of a sudden being named by their ingredients (ie. Peanut Butter Patties.) A couple years ago I noticed that the old names were back. Don't know what to tell you, but "Tagalongs" has long been the name of your precious "Peanut Butter Patties," so it's not really accurate to call it "nonsense."

I know this post was all in fun, but, much like horoscopes, I found it pretty much off the mark. My favorite cookie is Samoas, but Thin Mints and Tagalongs rank a close second and third, so, obviously, I can't be all those descriptions all at once. Basically, if it has chocolate, I'll eat it!! :)

Oh, and I disagree with whoever said that GS cookies taste bad compared to store-boughts. Thin Mints taste exactly like the Keebler Grasshoppers, in my opinion, and they're both awesome. Lately, in fact, I've found that I don't like most store bought cookies, especially Chips-ahoy, which used to be one of my favorites.

I think the Tagalongs profile is the most accurate personality test i have ever had!

Joy: How exactly would eating a box of Samoas once a year make you fat? It's not like GS cookies are available all the time (only in the winter/spring, which is particularly vexing for me, because they are delivered right at the start of Lent, so I don't actually eat them in earnest until after Easter.) Oh, and in my case, I'm not giving into peer pressure; I'm giving into familial pressure, because I have three nieces who are in Girl Scouts. :)

Tagalongs Forever! I tried the new ones this year. Pretty good, but not good enough for me to break up with Tagalongs. :D
    • Bosoxinny  •  2 years 2 months ago
LOL....what an absolute load of cr*p! All in fun, I guess though. I love Samoas. They are the only thing I buy when the Girl Scout cookie drives come around every year. But I am also pretty shy, no close friends, just acquaintences......and the 'finer' things in life? Yeah, OK. I shop at the next to new and haven't been out to eat in a few years! I AM thoughtful and creative, but far from snobby. Again though, I guess this article is just a 'fun' article.

      Ah Hah...Samoas all the way!
    • beth  •  2 years 2 months ago
To mc- The reason why there are two names is because they are made by two different baking companies and each company names their own cookies. They are Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. It depends on which ones you get. Same cookies, different names.

    • ShiningLight  •  2 years 2 months ago
Great article - good descriptions. I prefer Trefoils and Samoas. Lemon chalets are still being sold. Does anybody want to buy cookies? I have boxes and boxes and boxes and more boxes!!
