Where I am there is no real Halloween (South Korea). We try at the foreign English classes we teach. As for candy and chocolate it is available, but American brands are expensive. Korea has it's own spin on Valentine's day. Girls give chocolate to boys on February 14th. March 14th boys give candy to girls. November 11th is a big day too. Everyone exchanges bread sticks coated in chocolate. This year may be more significant because it is 11/11/11. I tend to think this day is a marketing ploy.

All weekend, we only got one set of two kids in the entire subdivision. This place used to be packed. Everyone grew up over the past twenty years. Guess I'm stuck with $40 worth of candy. Yes, I gave some to the Grand kids already! The rest goes to Grandpa. So, he will be a fat, dumb, and happy Santa for Christmas.

I would discourage my children from taking any kind of drink from a stranger's house. If they're thirsty let them come home. But if you go there every year sounds like you're safe.

It it isn't pre-wrapped I always threw it away. You never know what people do to the stuff.

Also if you were giving away fruit, pennies, and granola you are bad people. Give the kids some chocolate and move on. If you hated getting it as a kid (assuming you can remember that far back) what makes you think kids now will like it. That's why I always stock up on the candies that I liked the best as a kid. (or stuff similar to it)

When I lived up North, I gave out nothing but the best. 4 pack reese's cups. Now, I live in Miami and haven't had a trick-or-treator since I moved here seven years ago. It's sad that very little people celebrate Halloween down here. Too dangerous and most people here aren't even from this country and don't celebrate it. Sad.

I don't buy Chocolate because it is always more expensive then other types of candy, but I don't give out junk like dum dums or even worse, bible tracks and bananas. I do buy other things like jaw breakers, bubble gum, lolipops, sweet tarts, now and laters and tootie rolls. Nothing wrong with tootie rolls.

I hand out Halloween-themed toys or trinkets for something different among the candy orgy...why add to it?

Mrs.Obama is a woman of principle, (Not principal!) as long as it is someone else eating. Remember this is the woman who consumes french fries, hot dogs and served a cholesterol feast for the Superbowl gathering at the White House. It's all about do what I say and not what I do.

I gave out full size candy bars this year and was shocked that a lot of kids weren't that happy to get them...Snickers, Twix, 3 Musketeers, etc...they wanted Skitles and Starburst, fruity type stuff. I thought they'd be happy to get the bigger bars. Goes to show you how spoiled the kids in this neighborhood are!!

Usually, if I pass out candy for Halloween, I always put some sort of fruit gummy snack in my bowl for the parents that have really small children (toddlers and below). I've gotten a very positive reaction from the parents of those children. And I'm always amazed when little kids and teens alike take the gummy snacks instead of the actual candy.

Soon we won't have trick or treat because of all of the perverts in this world. We had hardly any kids in the neighborhood this year. Plus who wants to go trick or treating while the sun is still up?

You give out candy corn or pennies you are cheap. Granola, you are mean by forcing your personal agenda against your neighbor's children. Unwrapped salty snacks, just go into the trash. Popcorn balls tend to be rock hard. That leaves chocolates. If you don't give chocolates you deserve to be "tricked".
