    Where Did Popsicles Come From, Anyway?

    Who doesn't love popsicles? Those frozen treats that turn your mouth bright red or purple! Do you know who invented them?

    An 11-year-old boy did! In 1905, during a cold spell in San Francisco, young Frank Epperson accidentally left his fruity soda outside overnight with a stir stick in it. He found the frozen concoction the next morning. It tasted good and he named it the "Epsicle." It wasn't until 1923 that Epperson finally applied for a patent for the Epsicle ice pop, which his children convinced him to re-name the Popsicle.
