    Smart closet space solutions

No matter how hard we may try, it seems that we never have enough space for our belongings. This is the case with everything from clothing to lawn equipment, and everything in between. Today we'll discuss the topic of limited or no closet space, and show you how to make it more livable. Whether you're in a situation with no closet space at all, or want to expand the limited space you're currently dealing with, we've got several ideas that will work for you.

    Solutions for no closet space

There are many living situations that cause there to be absolutely no closet space whatsoever. Loft apartments, converted bedrooms, or shared living spaces typically won't provide any closets at all, which can cause a major problem. Here are a few solutions to dealing with no closet space.

Wardrobe - If you don't have any, you can quickly create closet space with a wardrobe. These units are freestanding, and come equipped with rods for hanging clothes and a small floor space for keeping shoes, bags, and other small items neat and organized. Doors are attached at the front to keep the things inside concealed. Wardrobes come in many different sizes, depths, finishes, and styles to fit any budget. Some models come complete with small drawers for additional storage.

Garment racks - If you don't like the idea of placing a large piece of furniture in your room to create closet space, you can always store your belongings on trendy garment racks. These racks are manufactured on wheels, so they can easily be moved from place to place, and are made from attractive wood or bamboo materials. Some of the more pricey racks come with attached side shelving for holding shoes and other accessories. Of course, if appearance isn't a concern, you could always purchase inexpensive industrial stainless steel racks as a substitute.

Clothing rods - If you absolutely have no room at all, you may have no choice but to attach clothing rods and wall shelving to the walls themselves. Use wicker baskets to keep items organized on the shelves, and rod extenders to maximize storage space. This idea won't take up any floor space, and your belongings can be quickly concealed behind a curtain.

    Ways to expand closet space

If you have somewhere to store your clothing, but are looking to maximize the size of your closet, we have help for you too! Here are a few very simple ways to expand closet space.

Change with the season - Don't try to store all your clothing at once. Instead, only keep in-season appropriate apparel on hangers. Store off-season clothing elsewhere to help create closet space.

Move unused clothing - We all have a habit of holding on to clothing that either doesn't fit, or is out of style. If you can't bear to throw it away, at least remove it from the closet and store it elsewhere.

Match outfits - Instead of using a hanger for each article of clothing, purchase several dual garment hangers to hang matched outfits together. This not only helps to expand close space, but it's also a great time saver in the mornings.
