When can I stop using condoms with my guy?

Let's face it…condoms are a pain to deal with. When you are in the mood to have sex with your guy, you have to search for a condom in your drawer and wait for him to put it on before the two of you get it on. Many women would rather not use condoms with their guy but aren't sure when it's the right time to forgo them. Although there is no specific time, there are three things you need to do before you stop using condoms.

    Agree to be monogamous

If you aren't already, the two of you need to agree to be monogamous if you decide to forgo condoms. If you sleep with other people and avoid using condoms when together, both of you are at risk of developing STDs. If the guy you're with doesn't want to be exclusive, don't get rid of the condoms.

    Get tested for STDs

Even if the two of you have been together exclusively for awhile, you both still need to get tested for STDs before you forgo the condoms. Doing this will ensure the safety and well-being of both of you. If you have to, don't be afraid to ask to see your guy's results on paper to give you a peace of mind.

    Get on birth control

Unless you plan on having little ones soon, you must get on birth control before getting rid of condoms. Being on some kind of birth control will dramatically decrease your chances of getting pregnant. Go to your gynecologist so that she can help you pick out the birth control that is right for you. Make sure to let the birth control set in your body for at least a month before having sex without condoms.

Not using condoms can make sex much more pleasurable for you and your guy. But it's important to talk it over with your guy first to make sure the both of you are on the same page.
