A night out with the best in beauty
Every time we think we have a handle on what's new in the world of beauty, a slew of products that work better, smell better, and pamper us better hits the shelves. P&G Beauty and Grooming invited beauty bloggers to the W Hotel in New York City to chat about beauty trends, both current and future, and to sample a range of exciting, affordable new products. We had the chance to chat with experts as well as some of our favorite bloggers and wanted to share with you what we learned.
One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with Dr. Cynthia Kenyon, a longevity researcher at the University of California, who told us how her work with tiny worms has the potential to reshape the way we tackle anti-aging. Fascinating. When it came time to check out the array of new products, a few themes stood out-natural ingredients, delicious scents and multi-tasking.
At the Herbal Essences area, I also got to visit with regular Thread guest Charles Baker Strahan, Herbal Essences' celebrity stylist extraordinaire, who was on hand to explain the benefits of Herbal Essences' new formulation. He also did my hair that night. Thanks, my friend!
Olay Body has a new scented line that moisturizes and exfoliates as well as our personal favorite, a delicious smelling body bar with massaging nubs.
One of the most talked-about products was Clairol Nice 'N Easy color blend foam. Clairol's color director, Marie Robinson, who's responsible for Sienna Miller and Anne Hathaway's gorgeous color, showed us how easy and mess-free the foam application is. In other color news, Clairol Natural Instincts has a new vibrant collection, a permanent hair color that provides excellent gray coverage and lasts eight weeks. Every box includes a color refresher to be used two weeks after the initial application to prevent fading.
Head & Shoulders' new scalp-care line has options for dryness, sensitivity, and itch that treat the issues and indulge the senses. Ingredients include eucalyptus, menthol, moisturizing almond oil and anti-inflammatory aloe.
There was a fun demo at the Secret table. We got to see how Secret's new Natural Mineral collection with calcium carbonate neutralizes odor instead of just masking it.
Venus also has big news: The new ProSkin MoistureRich razor has shave gel bars enhanced with body butters and the fabulous Jennifer Lopez as their new ambassador.
