The wonderful thing about jewelry is that with a few inexpensive pieces you can completely change your wardrobe without completely changing your wardrobe, if you know what I mean. Right now we are in the midst of an affordable jewelry explosion. Never before have so many gorgeous, well-crafted options covered the full fashion spectrum from girly (think Taylor Swift) to classic (think Jennifer Aniston) to edgy (think Rihanna). In this episode we show you how to pile on the sparkle according to five different style types and in doing so, multiply the options in your closet.
Picture what you'd wear while playing dress-up as a kid, only a little more mature. Think soft and romantic, with a bit of sparkle. It's all about ribbons, rhinestones, flowers, hearts and pearls. Don't be afraid to add some colorful gemstones. Not everything has to "match."
Now, classic does not mean stuffy. These pieces should make a look feel pulled together and polished. The materials may be tried and true (diamond studs, pearls) but the effect is far from old lady.
Rocker-chic pieces that have a tough-talking punk edge go so well with more feminine clothing choices. Lots of metals- especially oxidized metals- plus leather pieces and black gemstones define this look.
Artful combinations are the key to this look. Try mixing metals, colorful beads and wooden designs. Native American patterns and seed beads are everywhere right now, so feel free to experiment!
Large sculptural pieces that attract attention are what you want. The look is neat, not layered but it can definitely be loud.
