Ask someone about laughing during sex and the initial reaction is likely going to have something to do with a guy's fear of getting laughed at for not measuring up in the size department. Some don't associate the action with anything positive, either because they never experienced it or because it was an experience that was negative. There are also those who believe that laughing during sex, regardless of the reason, is completely rude and inappropriate. Sex is supposed to be fun; it doesn't always have to be serious, and as many of us know, things aren't always going to go perfectly. Despite the negative connotation that's often associated with laughing during sex, there are some moments when it's perfectly OK to do so.
When you fall off the bed
A past partner and I were in the midst of things when he suddenly disappeared. I peeked over the side of the bed and there he was on the floor, tangled in a sheet and looking completely confused. I burst out laughing and told him that the landing wasn't graceful, but that I gave him a nine for the dismount. He started laughing, things continued, and later on he actually thanked me for not making him feel like an idiot. Laughing won't help the bumps and bruises, but it will certainly make the situation memorable in a positive way.
When you get caught up in clothes
Taking clothes off during sex doesn't always go as smoothly as it does in the movies. Actors seem to get clothing off in one swoop, likely after several takes, but in real life, it's easy to get stuck in various parts of clothing or encountering zippers or buttons that don't want to cooperate. A friend recently told me a story about how she and a previous partner were having sex and, thanks to complicated hooks, he couldn't get the bra off the right way. She then tried to pull it over her head and got caught up in the strap. They were laughing so hard about the situation that it took even longer to get untangled. Both could have felt mortified, but laughing about it completely erased all negative feelings.
Someone farts
There's all types of noises during sex, but one of the most unexpected noises is a fart. No, it's not sexy, but it happens with some people on occasion when their body completely relaxes. This is definitely a situation where there could be quite a bit of embarrassment, but laughing it off can help make the person realize that there's no need to feel humiliated.
A quote by writer Rose Franken sums it up perfectly when she says "Anyone can be passionate, but it takes real lovers to be silly." They key to laughing during sex so no one gets offended is to joke around and laugh with the person instead of at them. Things are only going to be a big deal only if you make them one. No one wants to feel like they have to be completely perfect around their partner at all times, and laughing, especially during a potentially embarrassing situation, makes both people feel more at ease in the bedroom as well as in the relationship.
