Whip up a batch of pumpkin-spiced mini cake balls for your holiday gathering!
If you need to make a no-fuss holiday dessert at the last minute, skip the baking routine and whip up a batch of tasty pumpkin-spiced cake balls! It's so easy to make a crowd-pleasing treat out of vanilla cake donut holes, pumpkin pie spice, and instant pudding. This dessert only takes about 25 minutes to prepare so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the celebration. Just stack up a plate with these sweet treats, drizzle with chocolate, and nobody will know you spent less than half an hour to make them! Make these ahead of time and store in the fridge before hungry guests arrive.
Here's how to make your own batch of pumpkin-spiced mini "cake" balls:
What You Will Need:
1 package (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/3 cup cold milk
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
3 dozen vanilla cake donut holes (1 ½ inch)
¼ cup chocolate syrup
To Make Your Dessert:
Beat the JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding mix, pumpkin pie spice, and cold milk in a medium bowl for about two minutes until combined. Gently stir in the cup of COOL WHIP and make sure the whipped topping is completely mixed into the pudding mixture.
Cut a thin slice off each donut hole and discard this piece (or save it for later as a snack). Then, cut each donut hole in half and top one half with the pudding mixture. Put the other half on top to create a sandwich, pressing gently to secure. Don't push too hard or the filling will spill out the sides.
Place each donut hole cut side down on your serving plate. Drizzle with chocolate syrup.
You'll need to refrigerate your desserts if they aren't going to be served right away, so go ahead and store the plate in the fridge until guests arrive. Serve chilled with your favorite holiday beverage!
Other Festive Touches:
You can add a festive touch to this dessert by rolling a chilled cake ball in festive sprinkles, mini toffee bits, or even powdered sugar. Just makes sure you coat the entire ball - including the pudding filling -- with the decorative accents. You could also cover the entire cake ball in a chocolate ganache by dipping the ball in melted chocolate.
If you want a more finger-friendly dessert, insert a lollipop stick in the center of each donut hole to serve. These are a great addition to any kids' holiday table and can also be a tasty treat for grown-ups.Content by Sabah Karimi.
