Fall is the season for fashion! Cool crisp weather, multi-colored foliage and steaming vanilla cappuccinos set the stage for decadence and luxury. But what's a girl on a working budget to do? Let me show you how you can make this your most stylish autumn yet without breaking the bank!
1) Find What Works For You, and Stick With It!
I'm not an advocate of dressing the exact same way every day. Fashion was made for mixing it up! If you want to be Miss Corporate one day, and Bohemian Princess the next, I say go for it! However, it's important to know what works for you, and what doesn't. If your clothes aren't flattering, you're not going to feel your very best in them.
A major trend this fall is the peplum, but if you can't pull off a peplum, go for an empire waist. If skinny jeans don't do you justice, then embrace your flares. We're not all the exact same shapes and sizes, and that's okay. Embrace you.
2) Repurpose!
We all have that girl in the cubicle beside us that seems to have a much more expansive wardrobe than we do. Guess what ladies! Chances are, her wardrobe is no different than yours. It's all about knowing how to work what you've got. Knowing how to repurpose is so important, because having an endless clothing supply is not only impractical, it's also unnecessary.
Get creative! All of your spring and summer tops will look completely different layered under a jewel toned cardigan or a smart blazer. And the same goes for dress! Add leggings, boots and throw on a scarf and no one will ever even know it's the same dress! Better yet, even you will feel like it's a whole new outfit.
3) Don't Underestimate the Power of Accessories
I'm assigning you homework - put on one of your favorite outfits, and layer on tons of silver jewelry. I'm thinking necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, go for it all. Once you've sufficiently admired yourself in the mirror, take off all your silver jewelry and replace it with everything gold. A major difference, right? Accessories can completely transform an outfit; use it to your advantage!
4) Metallics!
This is one of my absolute favorite trends right now because it's just so absolutely gorgeous and classy. A metallic steel grey or rose gold is timeless, and totally office appropriate when paired with neutrals. Fall is the perfect time to wear neutrals, and when the holidays roll around you'll be completely prepared!
However, the biggest risk when working with metallics is the reality that they can out do you. Make sure to keep your make-up palette within the same scheme as your metallics, and if your clothing is very outspoken, make sure your accessories draw attention towards your face, rather than distract.
5) Wear What Makes YOU Feel Confident
You might have on the cutest outfit in the world, but if you don't feel great it in, you're not going to look great in it. Confidence is the greatest accessory in the world, ladies. If you feel confident with what you are wearing, it is going to show through with a gorgeous glow.
Remember, at the end of the day we're really dressing for ourselves, enjoy it!
