If there's one hair care secret I'd like everyone to know it's this: you don't have to spend a lot of money on shampoo to have healthy hair. True, there are great salon and high-end shampoos out there, like any of these that are more than worth their price. But, for most of us, we can get along just fine using a quality drugstore shampoo.
Please note however that I said a quality drugstore shampoo. Because plenty of them just aren't good enough for your hair. Take, for example, the shampoos below. TotalBeauty.com readers tried them and found they left their hair dirty, dry or greasy -- ugh! Peruse the products below, and toss any coupons you may have for them, they're totally not worth it.

I think there are two types of makeup in this world: the makeup you want (like these awesome mascaras or gorgeous lip colors) and the makeup you need. I, for instance, will scare small children if I go outside before covering my dark circles, so concealer is one of those makeup items that isn't exactly fun but is definitely necessary in my case.Do you have anything like that? Odds are, most of us have a blemish or dark circle that could stand a little camouflage. To help you out in that arena, we gathered these top-rated concealers on TotalBeauty.com. Our readers say these will get the job done right -- no caking, flaking or frightening the neighbors' kids. Click on any below to see why they rock:

We've brought you quite a few lists of the best and worst products from different brands (like the best and worst Clinique, Neutrogena, MAC, Avon, the list goes on and on), and even if the brand is overall stellar, there are always a few products that don't measure up.Until now. We were shocked to find that our picky TotalBeauty.com readers liked all (yes all) of the products from Aveeno. The lowest-rated product? A 6.8, which isn't exactly awful, right?
I guess it makes sense, I'm a big fan of their lotions and my skin isn't even that dry. But according to our readers, anyone with really dry or itchy skin should pick something up from this line -- because the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor that it's worthwhile. See our list of the top products below (click on any to see why they made the list), and then click here to see what that one mediocre product was.

Every celebrity hairstylist I talk to says that great hair starts in the shower -- a.k.a., if you use cheap shampoo and conditioner, you'll wind up with cheap-looking hair.
Now, don't get me wrong, cheap doesn't necessarily mean inexpensive. There are plenty of bargain products (like these top drugstore shampoos) that work amazingly -- and more than a few high-end products that don't deliver despite the price. That's why we put together the 10 worst conditioners, with both high and low end products, based on TotalBeauty.com reader reviews. Check them out below and steer clear, unless you like that whole greasy, frizzy look (this celeb seems to, I wonder if she's using a product on this list?). New beauty products show up on the shelves all the time -- who can keep track? While some can be instant classics that really change how we look (like these), many others aren't note-worthy enough for a re-purchase.
That's why we're so glad that there are these products -- the ones that stand the test of time and are always there to give us gorgeous skin and hair (and the ones we'd shed more than a few tears for if they ever discontinued them, are you listening beauty brands?!). Have you tried all these classic products? What are your beauty staples -- the products you can't live without?

Ever heard of the brand e.l.f.? It can be a little tricky to find (it often sells at Big Lots!, Food 4 Less, Kmart and online of course) but if you do, you'll discover that basically everything (we're talking foundation, blush, eyeshadows, everything) cost $1.
Makeup for $1?! It sounds too good to be true, so it's no wonder TotalBeauty.com readers were skeptical. Check out their comments below, and if you want to try it out for free (hey, you can buy a lot else with that dollar), click here. Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (20) | Blog

Like a fender-bender on the freeway or pics of celebrities without makeup, I just can't tear myself away from this list of the 100 lowest-rated products in your medicine cabinet. Let's be honest, while the list of the 100 highest-rated is more useful when shopping, the bad reviews are just way more fun to read. Get your guilty-pleasure fix with the 20 worst below and if that's not enough, these awful plastic surgery shots should do the trick.
No. 20: BioSilk Hydrating Shampoo, TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 3.3 (out of 10)
Hydrating? Not so much, readers say. Instead it left "hair stripped of all moisture and impossible to style." Another reader says the lack of lather gave her "dirty, oily hair that needed to be rewashed."
No. 19: Physicians Formula CoverToxTen50 Wrinkle Therapy Concealer, rating: 3.3

I've found mine and the other editors have their picks too. But some of you haven't found "the one," and that makes me want to cry. Nothing opens your eyes up or gives you a polished look like a great mascara (except maybe these tips). Are you still looking for the perfect mascara? Check out this advice from TotalBeauty.com readers and start searching for your mascara match here. Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

I'm pretty picky when it comes to foundation, it really is the "foundation" of my look (whoa, maybe that's how it got its name, is this blowing your mind too?). The perfect one is tough to find -- although this quiz certainly helps. The foundations on this list though are basically the opposite of perfect. If you're looking for new makeup, I don't recommend. (These foundations, on the other hand, are fabulous.) Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (19) | Blog

I love, and I mean love, a good mascara (like any of these). Ergo -- yeah, I said ergo -- I hate when I waste my money on a tube that gives me flaky, smudgy or spidery lashes. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you feel the same. Ergo -- there it is again! -- you'll probably want to steer clear of the ones TotalBeauty.com users said were the worst they've tried. Unless you like raccoon eyes. Then by all means, buy away … Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (74) | Blog
