Before 2008 ended, I made what felt like a very soothing decision to forget resolutions and instead, declare my intention to take better care of myself in the year ahead. Without the pressure to do one specific thing or attain some lofty goal, I excitedly stacked up self-help, meditation and prayer books on my night stand. I pulled out the yoga DVDs and pushed back my couch so the whole room was at the ready as soon as I was. I didn't (and still don't) want to dive in. Rather, I want to wade in, slowly, calmly, strategically and unlike how I've operated for so long.
