Remember when we first started Body by Glamour? I told you all about my lack of upper-body strength and my inability to perform a push up correctly. For a long time, I was afraid that I would NEVER be able to do one, but I vowed to overcome my fear. Read More »

When it comes to exercise, structure keeps me motivated. Without it, I have a hard time being consistent. Now under normal circumstances, I would never be able to afford a personal trainer, but one of the perks of being your Shape Up blogger is that I get to meet with the fabulous Taj Harris, from Crunch Fitness, a couple of times a week. In addition to the strength and cardio plans celebrity trainer Ramona Braganza created especially for Body by Glamour, meeting with Taj provides another layer of structure that is very comforting (albeit extra painful!) to me. I was already getting used to having her around when she announced last week that she was going on vacation. I was a little bit worried, given my track record...would I be able to stay motivated?

OK, so not only haven’t I been swimsuit shopping in three years, I haven’t been to the beach in three years. I get countless invitations from friends and family every year, but I always politely turn them down. Truth be told, I love the beach. I made a vow to myself that I would work on my body image baggage, but the swimsuit thing gets me every time . I just feel so exposed, with all of my flaws hanging out...Does anybody else feel this way?

All successful endeavors--whether they're losing weight or getting a new job--start with goal setting. And it's absolutely key to write our goals down. I read a horrifying statistic recently that 95 percent of the people in the world who do not have written goals fail, while the 5 percent that have written goals succeed. I can think of lots of reasons why this is so--and lucky for you I'm going to go ahead and break 'em down here. Read More »
