Would you mystic tan at home?
As I said a couple posts back, I'm so over self tanner at this point in the summer. Maybe it's that I'm disgusted with every society's seeming need to cosmetically alter their skin color, or more likely, a less noble, lazy reason: the fact that the hotter it gets, the idea of taking a shower, exfoliating, carefully applying tanner and standing around naked for five minutes somehow just doesn't sound as appealing as quickly rinsing off, cracking open a cold beer and throwing some shrimp on the barbie. Know what I mean?

Look like you went away last weekend for a lot less than the cost of a flight
I don't get out much. At least not to exotic, faraway destinations. And this Fourth of July was no exception. While everyone else was packing up and heading to the beach, I remained in my concrete jungle - with the exception of a day trip to Central Park and some catching up on my vintage... The Five Best Self Tanners Ever
If you've ever had a self tanner mishap (orange streaks ring a bell much?), then you might have sworn off trying to alter your skin color for life. Then again, if you've ever had an A1 totally successful experience made in self tanning heaven, you know that a golden hue does make your skin look perfectly even toned and maybe even just a little bit Sophia Loren-esque, just a little. Hardcore: Lancome's Flash Bronzer Airbrush
The most strenuous thing I did over the long weekend--other than haul an impressive quantity of cheese, crackers and wine to Central Park--was venture beyond the safety of gradual self-tanners and pick up a can of the darker, one-hour kind (knowing I had a few days to recover from mess-ups before heading to work): Lancome's Flash Bronzer Airbrush. It went so-so. It was easy to mist on, and the color is totally streakless/natural and helped ease my transition into skimpy summer-weekend attire. BUT I messed up my hands big time, leaving weird lines and white "webbing" between my fingers. Read More »

Cute! Lancôme's Star Bronzer Sun Cherub Compact
I was positively "aww"-ing when I opened Lancôme's newest bronzing palette.
More squeal-inducing than some of the shots on cuteoverload.com, the new, limited-edition Star Bronzer Sun Cherub Compact is the glistening, powdered relief of a cherub cozying up to the sun. This multi-colored rendering has rays of terracotta, shimmering gold, and dark bronze which, when blended, look as beautiful and luminous on the skin as they do in the pan.

Hello Casper, it's me Bronzer! How to get a tan fast without looking like an Oompa Loompa
Are you planning on wearing shorts/a skirt/a bathing suit/exposing any flesh this weekend? I am. And quite frankly, I feel scared. My skin is WHITE. Not like pretty, ivory Nicole Kidman white. No, we're dealing with Philip Seymour Hoffman pale-with-blotchy-specks-of-red-fire white. It is not, in a word, hot. And I know, I should be all "love yourself for who you are", "who cares about pasty legs, we're at war." But instead, I just want to use a bit of fast, non-streaky self-tanner and look a teeny tiny bit bronze. Sue me.
I've rounded up some quick-fix products below. All I've used myself or have come on very good recommendations (oh and for best results your legs should be shaved and your skin exfoliated first)... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (18) | Blog
