My suggestion to the new Administration? Let everyone telecommute. A recent article in PC World detailed a survey by the U.S. Consumer Electronics Association which found that although carbon emissions from home offices increased when people work from home, the gas they save more than makes up for it. The report claims 3.9 million people in America now work from home at least one day a week, thus avoiding an average 22-mile commute. Taking into account the increased power use in the home, the practice currently saves about 840 million gallons of gas, the equivalent to taking two million cars off the road for a year. Read More »

Sometime last year, things started going a little hinky for us. I was a SAHM, my husband worked from before the sun came up until well after it went down, 6 days a week. Sure we had plenty of money, but we didn't get any quality time alone, or as a family, outside of going to church on Sundays.
Hours got cut, and drastic changes were made. My husband got a job with another company, and then several weeks into the job, was told that he was expendable, and was sent on his way. Uh-oh.
