make any kind of move that requires forethought and planning, is
pasta. A bowl of rotini, a drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of Kosher
salt, and some romano cheese--if I've got a block sitting around
and am up...

cooking for myself. Most of it is the fact that it's a lot of work
and time and effort for just one person who probably will not
appreciate it, but a large part of the reason I'd rather just
microwave a hot...

Does It Matter What Kind of Salt You Use?
So, it looks from your picture that you used coarse sea salt rather than kosher salt or table salt in the brine. Maybe that was the reason you found it a little salty. Glancing at the pork chop recipe again, I notice that it calls, rather vaguely, for "coarse salt." That is remarkably non-specific, since different salts produce very different results. What? Prize-Winning Cornbread Wedges with Ranchero Cilantro Drizzle
Jack Thompson
For much of the year, South Pittsburg, Tenn., is a quiet, close-knit community of just 3,300 people. But come the last weekend in April, a crowd of more than 40,000 descends upon the town. The big draw? The National Cornbread Festival, a weekend-long celebration complete with live music, a midway, farm animals, and the famous National Cornbread Cook-off, where 10 finalists compete for the top prize: $5,000 and a Brown FiveStar Range.
Jenny Flake of Gilbert, Ariz., won the 2007 Cook-off with Chicken Taco Cornbread wedges with Ranchero Cilantro Drizzle. Get her recipe for this delicious dish here. Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (0) | Blog
