Being pregnant does not mean that you have
to hide out in your husband's giant tee-shirts
and baggy gym shorts for nine months. Pregnancy is a
beautiful thing and you should flaunt
your new, if only temporary, curves. But you… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (0) | Blog

Where I can't say I am a different
case from the rest of the world, I like to think that I am in a
unique (and frustrating) sort of situation. On a day to day basis,
as a 20-21 year old, I am very happy with how I look, the decisions
I make for myself in terms of eating and exercise, and my… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (4) | Blog

I grew up with a young, beautiful, stick-skinny mom. She never really worked out (until later), she ate (mostly) whatever she wanted, and she always stayed the same: Hot. Though I was proud of how pretty she was, her model slimness was mostly a non-issue for the first 13 years of my life. However, once I reached puberty and my Italian hips spread, my butt filled out, and it became clear that my mother's effortless thinness would never be a reality for me, I became resentful, sad, and melodramatic about it all. I may have cried, flung myself on beds, and punched pillows. You know, the way teenagers are.
In the subsequent two decades, I've worked through most of those wretch-y adolescent insecurities and I learned to love my feminine, medium-sized body for what it is. In my best moments, I can even feel quite blessed and grateful for what I have. I eat well, I exercise regularly, and I do my best to take care of myself. I like it that I can fill out clothes and I think having curves is sexy. It's all relatively healthy and positive.
BUT, and this is a big but... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (46) | Blog

It seems like overnight
people transferred their fascination from J.Lo’s booty to that of

Now this seems like bad idea: On Tuesday, a story appeared on New York magazine's website about Michelle Obama's "booty," specifically outlining how President Obama admires his wife's backside.
The post, titled "Now That's Something To Salute," was illustrated with a photo of the president saluting a marine as the first lady entered a helicopter ahead of him. The text of the story read:
"This morning President Obama departed for the G20 summit in London ... As he boarded Marine One, Obama returned the salute of the marine standing guard ... we think. It also looks like Obama might just be blocking the sun's glare as he checks out Michelle's booty."

I have a confession to make: I am not a real woman. I am not a real woman because real women have curves, have big boobs and hips and asses and bellies, because real women are a size 14 or larger while the only time I'm a size 14 is when I'm looking through racks of glittery pink Hannah...
