If you're anything like me, you'd love to just get and keep the skin you had in your 20s (well, minus the breakouts). Wouldn't it be nice, to never have a wrinkle or age spot pop up? Well, there are some serums out there (like these) that can get us pretty close.
However, many anti-aging products -- like the ones on this list -- frankly, don't do much at all (some of them even make things worse!). Check them out (click on any to see why they're terrible) so you don't mess up your progress towards that 20-something skin.

I'm thinking of starting my own beauty-themed comic book. The main super-hero: Eva Young. Her task: fighting wrinkles, fine lines and age spots wherever they may lie. Her sidekicks: these seven age-busting ingredients. What do you think, instant hit, right?OK, so no one would actually buy that (I don't think 10-year-old boys or girls are too concerned about things like uneven skin tone), but when I learned about these amazing ingredients, the first thing that came to mind was the term "super hero" -- and I think it's pretty appropriate. Check them out below. If you have any skin issues, they'll come to your rescue (cape not included).

You know the saying "never trust a skinny chef"? Well, I have my own: never trust a dermatologist with bad skin. Sure, it's not exactly the same, but it stands to reason that a smart dermatologist would know how to take good care of their own skin, right? That's why when I wanted to know how to really, truly keep my skin looking young (preferably without resorting to extremes like these), I asked some top dermatologists. All of them were happy to share their secrets -- and all have gorgeous skin to back up their claims.

You know how they say you should get any "suspicious" moles checked out by a doctor? Am I the only one who finds the term "suspicious" a little vague and, well, suspicious? How the heck am I supposed to know what moles are safe and which are just cancer waiting to happen?
Luckily, there's this quiz that helps explain the difference between a normal ol' mole and one that should send you running to the dermatologist. It's so easy -- and a lot quicker than a stint in a doctor's waiting room (there are only so many back issues of Self magazine a person can read, am I right?).
Just take a glance at your moles and answer a few questions. It'll put your mind at ease, or let you know if there's a derm visit in your near future. Here's a sample: Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (4) | Blog

In keeping with my recent articles on anti-aging and skin care basics, I realized it was also important to talk about which vitamins, minerals and nutrients you can take for great skin. What's really terrific is when your skin is healthy, it's likely that the rest of you will be, too. In…

It's not what most of us want to hear: "You look tired!" Maybe it's just sympathy — but if you hear it a lot, even when you're NOT tired, you may be at your wit's end trying to figure out what to do about it. Read More »
