Yesterday I walked into my
favorite self-service beauty boutique and a salesperson asked if I
was looking for anything in particular. "Yes, dry
shampoo," I said, and she pointed me toward the back of
the store. Perfectly helpful. But as I reached the correct aisle,
another… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (34) | Blog

As a longtime fan of a long,
blunt fringe, I have come to understand that during the summer
months my bangs will bear little resemblance to their
winter-weather counterparts. But the concept of grease and
frizz-free bangs at the height of summer’s humid onslaught is not
an impossible dream,… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (2) | Blog

Yesterday, I was told that I would be modeling for a last-minute Luckyshoot, but I hadn't washed my hair in four days. The hairstylist took one look and started spraying huge amounts of Klorane (it's French!) dry shampoo. (I have soft hair, with not enough texture. I was reading an interview with Brooke Shields--whose swirls of long brown hair always look gorgeous--in which she says she makes a blowout last five days!!! And that the dirtier her hair is, the better it looks. She said she touches up with dry shampoo when she's in the home stretch. I feel like I'm always hearing that from celebs. It doesn't work for me.

Now, I’m not sure exactly what rock I’ve been sleeping under, but I only recently became aware of the lifesaver known as dry shampoo. This is how it works: you apply dry shampoo (which can be in powder or aerosol form) onto the roots of your hair, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then...
