Simple and Fresh: Ginger Soy Tilapia
As a fan of treehouses and too-good-to-be-true family dynamics, of course I grew up reading the Berenstain Bears and loving the kind of conflict that can be wrapped up in 25 picture-filled pages. A particular favorite is The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers where Mama Bear teaches Sister Bear... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (2) | Blog

Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Spaghetti has always been one of my favorite dishes. It's easy to make, and provides a delicious, filling meal. Everyone prefers their spaghetti sauce differently. Some like it to be just a tomato sauce, while others prefer large meatballs scattered throughout. Personally, I like my meat sauce somewhere in the middle. I love having lots of cooked ground beef mixed into the sauce, so you get chunks of meat in every bite.
This recipe is my grandmother's recipe, and is the recipe I have grown up with. With six kids, my grandmother sure knew how to cook a great meal... I wouldn't change a thing.

Zucchini Bread
Recently I have signed up to receive a CSA box every other week. For those who don't know, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You can purchase a share from a local farm who has the CSA program, and you will receive a box full of fruits and vegetables every week (or every other week for a half share). This week, I got three zucchinis in my box. While I wasn't sure about what to do with some of the vegetables that I wouldn't necessarily buy on my own, there was no question about what to do with the zucchinis - three batches of zucchini bread.
Zucchini bread is coveted in my family. It is always quick to disappear, so if I want any, I had better get to it before my siblings and my parents eat it up. Unfortunately, my mother doesn't make zucchini bread very often... usually only every couple of months or so.
Of course, when I moved out, zucchini bread was one of the first things I learned to make. It's such a perfect breakfast bread, and when there's a loaf sitting around, I often make a snack out of it.

Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp
Imagine walking along the beach on a bright summer day. The cool salt water rushes in to swirl around your ankles, then races away playfully. A slight breeze brings a whiff of salty ocean air. You hear seagulls squawking all around you. The taste of the briny ocean air is on your lips as you watch the sun set over the immense ocean.
After a perfect day at the beach, you need a perfect meal, so why not a summery barbecue? To me, summer means one thing - lots of grilling. Perhaps some sweet, salty, teriyaki marinated shrimp on the barbecue. Absolute heaven. Wonderfully delicious. A perfect summer dish.
If you're a sushi lover, this shrimp is amazing in a roll, especially if you pair it with some grilled onions. Yum!
