On the one hand, applying eye makeup seems like it should be easy. A little liner, shadow, mascara and you're done, right?
But on the other hand, it can be quite daunting. Which eyeliner is best for my eyes? Which shadow will give me a perfect smoky eye and which will just make me look like I lost a fistfight? Have you heard of the "Lipstick Index"? It's the idea that when the economy is bad, women buy more lipstick as a quick pick-me-up. It's proven true in the last few downturns, but now lipstick sales are down -- and eye makeup sales are up.
This means either a. We're not in a recession (my bank account strongly counters that theory) or b. Women are more into eye makeup than lipstick now.
I know I fit into this trend. I won't leave the house without mascara (and it has to be one of these), but I rarely wear lipstick, usually just lip balm or one of my many glosses. What do you think?
