The store -- tapping into a cultural fascination with the '60s that popped up in so many books this year (Tom Brokaw's <em><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.amazon.com/Boom-Talking-Sixties-Happened-Tomorrow/dp/0812975111/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226609970&sr=8-1">Boom!: Talking About the Sixties</a></em>, and Sheila Weller's <em><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.amazon.com/Girls-Like-Us-Simon-Generation/dp/0743491475/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226610060&sr=1-1">Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon -- and the Journey of a Generation</a></em>, among others) -- deemed this year one of "Peace and Love: Have a Hippie Holiday." <br>"The counterculture was everywhere this year, and it was the <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.moonshineink.com/articles.php?issue=55&id=937">50th anniversary of the peace sign</a>," Doonan said, adding that the symbol is made up of the semaphore characters for "N" and "D," which stand for "nuclear disarmament" -- who knew?
