I am reasonably confident
that all moral members of modern society feel disquiet, at least,
at the thought of ancient Roman gladiatorial games in which the
very goal of the contest was...death. But what about modern
games in which one of the goals is disability? This, to me,
seems a… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (4) | Blog

You will all be relieved to know that my foot is better and now I can help YOU with your foot problems, too, since it's as simple as using a little ball to massage the sole. I had a visit from Polly Demille yesterday from the esteemed Hospital for Special Surgery here in NYC, and she brought with her this cute little pouch of rubber balls of three different sizes and she taught me a method called MELT that uses the balls to massage your foot and help you release the tension there. It was fascinating to see how these balls, when used as pressure-point release therapy, really worked to relax and soothe my feet, especially my plantar fasciitis. Read More »

We use a lot of first aid ointment in my house. I have a 4-year-old son, so it is no surprise that I am constantly slathering some scrape or hangnail or burn from wiping out on the rubber flooring at the playground with the stuff.I have almost-empty tubes and tiny Scooby Doo bandages in almost every room.
For as much as we use inside, I've often thought how handy it would be to have outside, too. Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (4) | Blog

Let me Go deeper into this........

Kissing is supposed to be safe: You're not going to get an STI. You're not giving up your lady-flower. Unless you're kissing a vampire, the worst that's gonna happen is the awkward I-have-to-breathe-but-I-don't-wanna-pull-away feeling... right? Wrong. Apparently kissing can make you go deaf. What kind of man
would beat a 16-year-old girl, just to get ahead in a fast food
line? A girl was standing in line with her 5-year-old
niece and a friend at a McDonalds countertop in Los Angeles, when a
man came in with 2 small boys. She complained about him cutting

I fell down, last night. Coming down the stairs, into E's backyard, it was dark, and the light was out, and I was thinking, as I scrabbled at the wall and wondered how many more steps were left, I was thinking, "Wouldn't be funny if I just went flailing off and landed on my head?"... It was one of those playgroup offenses that cannot be spoken aloud: The mom who co-opts the kid gear. I'm not talking about taking a hit off a juice box or hopping on the scooter for a half-block. I'm talking about sporting a kiddie bandage on her finger.
Sure, Elmo/Lightning McQueen/Dora/Hello Kitty itty bitty bandages are cute. For small children. Fear not, though, you can still cover up your blisters, scrapes and other owies without getting too preschool. Skip the tiny adhesive licensed characters and instead, opt for these adorable band-aids made for adults: Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (15) | Blog
