DietsInReview.com This week, three new fitness video games
were released for use with the Nintendo Wii (or Nintendo DS). With
the creation of the Nintendo Wii an entirely new genre of video
games has been born, and it's probably the best thing to ever
happen to video… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (12) | Blog

I haven't watched every
single episode of "The Biggest Loser", which kicked off
its eighth season last night. But I have kept my eye on the show
during the seasons that I wasn't glued to the show each week.
I've done this in part because I am amazed at the
transformation --… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (29) | Blog

To find more willpower when reserves run low, we consulted the guru we'd all love to have on speed dial: Jillian Michaels. (OK, we do have her on speed dial; she's now a contributing editor.) Channel her voice when you're flagging. Read More »

I consider myself pretty darn fit. I exercise like it's my job because, well, as the Fitness Director of SELF, it is my job! But nothing could have prepared me for 90 sweat-filled minutes with The Biggest Loser's trainer Jillian Michaels! Jill and I have worked together for years. Most recently we teamed up to bring you The Great One-Month Slimdown. I can't believe she convinced me to bare my belly in nothing but a bra top and fitted sweats for that video. Holy naked :)! But I must admit, it was motivating to see what I'm trying to achieve (a tight, toned tummy) rather than hiding inside a baggy tee.

So I try to take care of myself. I go for
the grilled chicken versus the fried. The salad with a little
dressing on the side versus the french fries. And so on and so on.
Point is the the food part of a diet is the easiest to adapt to,
for myself. The working out is not. I hate working out. I take… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (0) | Blog

The Biggest Loser trainer—and SELF's newest contributing editor!—is always go-go-going. What you see on TV is only a slice of Jillian Michaels's life. When she's offscreen, she's still whipping her contestants (and herself!) into shape.
How does this powerhouse fuel her jam-packed schedule? She prioritizes. "If I didn't work out and watch what I ate, I'd easily be 200 pounds," she admits. "I'm not the girl who loves to go to the gym. And I'm not the girl who loves broccoli, either. But I am the girl who feels potent, capable and confident when she feels strong, and I don't want to give that up. To me, it's about building a better body." Find out what a fitness guru really eats with SELF's day in the diet of Jillian Michaels.

I don't know what you do when you're feeling frustrated, bored or upset, but a lot of women eat. Sure, a few cookies now and then aren't going to kill you, but there are so many better ways to take care of yourself! We are always willing to justify eating crap by saying, "I had a rough day. I deserve this." Deserve what? Heart disease? Cellulite? Diabetes? Come on! Would you reward your loved ones this way? I bet not. What do I do to make myself feel better?

It's no secret that I have my issues with reality TV. I hate the Biggest Loser eliminations. I loathe all the contrived story beats of temptations and challenges. The creative editing makes me utterly bananas and yet here I am, still on Loser going into a double season of 8 and 9! Why? Because the goodness of the show always prevails. Because there are some lessons I have learned while working with my BL contestants that I think are powerful enough to change the world. Here are some for you to ponder... Read More »
