I recently got an intense urge to fill my closet with a ton of cozy chic sweaters. You know what spurred it? Daria Werbowy's delicious hooded sweater in Vogue Nippon. A-mazing. The key to a great sweater is it not only looking good, but feeling good on your skin, too. That's why you shouldn't skimp in this category — an itchy sweater, no matter how inexpensive, is useless. But, that's not to say that you can't find a relatively affordable style that's cool and comfy. One of them is this popcorn-colored cableknit sweater Arlenis Sosa is wearing. Proceed to see some of my cozy-chic finds at all price points. Read More »

My recent trip to Paris left me inundated with chic fashion observations. Whether I was window shopping on Rue Saint-Honoré or strolling down Rue St. Germain, I would always spot a cool trend, another form of inspiration for my closet. Left and right, effortlessly gorgeous women on bikes and on foot would stop me dead in my tracks. It's a mystery how they don't brush their hair and barely wear makeup, but look so damn good. Bella, any ideas? Fashion-wise, we all know that Parisians love, love, love black. Even visitors, like L'Uomo Vogue editor Giovanna Battaglia, get sucked into the black hole when they go. Curious to know my other Paris fashion observations? Entrer!

I've decided to write a list instead
of reviews. I sat down, fully intending to choose only one title to
write about but it really came down to picking a puppy out of the
pound. All the titles started bounding against the cage, barking
gleefully, their brown eyes begging to be taken home. Much… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

This is what happens when the MTV generation grows up. We chronicle our lives in lists. We count down, like the old video marathons or Letterman's standby. We compile, rank and shuffle (that's the iPod's influence -- we're still hip, you know). We enumerate, therefore we are. So, what's the point of all these lists? Is it just the emblem of our fragmented attention? Are we too impatient for a paragraph, too addled to follow a train of thought without mile markers? Nah. It's just that a list is a lovely thing. Without any more distracting prose, here is a list of our reasons to love a list: Read More »

In Italy, a panino (or panini, in the plural) can refer to a type of roll or a griddled sandwich, but here in America, a panini is always a pressed sandwich that is served warm. Why do I have panini on the brain? Because August is National Panini Month! Since I'm a huge fan of the combination of toasty bread and melted cheese, I've rounded up my favorite panini recipes. Besides the meaning of life and the ingredients of hot dogs, many a man has questioned "what exactly do women want?" We're not playing coy here, we know we're complex creatures. And, true, we operate on a different wavelength than men. The best example of our gender difference comes from an article we read last year about why men cheat. The most compelling testimony was from a transgender man who'd undergone hormone therapy during his transition. Thanks to testosterone, the man noticed less of an emotional attachment to sex and more of a physical urge to engage, regardless of consequences. Fascinating. Read More »

It's said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So, yes, we know that snooping around our S.O.'s email account is a bad idea and that believing in the fairy-tale love stories we grew up reading is silly, but sometimes we find ourselves giving these relationship moves the ol' college try! The results? Not so successful. Plus, we start to feel unbalanced, and perhaps rightly so. Read More »
