A government task force reversed long-standing recommendations on when women should start having mammograms and how often they should have them. According to the new standards, women should start having mammograms at age 50 rather than at 40, and should have them every two years. Today, I am having my first mammogram. Although I write about a lot of personal things, I didn't really intend to tell all of the interwebs that I am about to have some really high-tech, expensive portraits of my breasts taken this afternoon.
