Michelle Obama at the DNC: Isn't she lovely
Like many of us, I've been
trying to keep up with this historic Democratic National Convention,
and the ladies are really shining through this year. Michelle
Obama's speech was rousing, as was Hillary Clinton's, who proved
that...

Michelle Obama - A Role Model for My Daughters
Every night before we go to bed, my daughters and I talk about our worst and best parts of the day. Today, we all agreed that the best part was watching Michelle Obama's warm and passionate speech, and then seeing her girls come onto the stage. As a mom, I felt we were experiencing a piece of...

Michelle Obama: Smart speech, sassy dress
When Michelle Obama appeared on stage last night at the Democratic National Convention, I felt nervous. Not only for what she would say, but also because I feared she had made a huge fashion mistake with that starburst brooch. However, quickly into her speech, all of my fears were laid to rest. Obama was smart, smooth, warm, accessible and powerful. I loved the message of her speech, the idealism, the American dreaminess of it. I know this is exactly how I was supposed to feel, that these particular words were put together so I would respond in this particular way. But it still got me (in fact, I'm embarrassed to say, there were points when I had chills--then again, I'm a sucker for love, moms, kids and bootstrap-success stories).

And as for the dress? I still think the front bling flower was a little odd, but the shape and color were both gorgeous. It looked good on her, it suited her frame and was far, far superior to some of the uptight, dowdy-horrible suits we've seen at these things in the past. Part 2 of Michelle Obama's speech, after the jump.

Michelle Obama's Speech: Love and Family

Is this wrong? Tyra Banks poses as Michelle Obama (UPDATE: there's a video, too)
In the September issue of Harper's Bazaar, Tyra Banks dresses up as Michelle Obama, stands in a mock Oval office next to a fake Barack Obama, smiles with her eyes and basically pretends to be America's next first lady (who, by the way, has not been elected first lady yet and this is just the kind of thing that probably won't help her chances).
In the accompanying interview, the model/talk show host/wanna-be world dominator reveals that she "bawled" when Barack won the nomination, that the first lady should "know how to take a fierce picture,” and that Michelle Obama is "one hot mama."
Also?
Banks says if she were first lady, her Secret Service acronym would be "KMFA: Kiss My Fat Ass."

Do you know what sucks? This New Yorker cover
Oh, Lord. For its July 21 cover, somehow, someone at The New Yorker thought it would be hilarious and satirical to depict presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle wearing a turban and military fatigues, carrying a machine gun, burning a flag and fist-bumping—all of which while standing under a picture of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
I'm all for poking fun at the absurd and exposing the outlandish, inappropriate and oft racist allegations the Obama campaign has endured. But there's something about this image that goes too far, that feels egregious and exacerbating, that veers quickly from edgy to downright irresponsible...
