One of the tricks I’ve been practicing lately is picking up the phone to catch up with someone while I cook dinner. I often eat dinner on the late side because I don’t get home early—and it’s become very important (and healthy) for me to NOT eat two meals at my desk at work. The problem is, I’ve always been the type to “snack” while preparing dinner (or, as used to be the case when I was a take-out junkie, while waiting for the delivery man). Now it’s become a part of my evening ritual to call someone while I’m prepping dinner. Not only does talking on the phone make it impossible to munch, but it also forces me to open up instead of isolate when I'm feeling overwhelmed.
