Ever since Twilight, we've been watching Bella Swan, I mean, Kristen Stewart, like a hawk. Her street style hasn't changed much — jeans, tee, and leather jacket are her usual M.O. — but her red carpet looks have evolved into something magical. In the beginning of her post-Twilight stardom, the actress shied away from elaborate gowns and funky frocks, but times have changed and so has Kristen. Read More »

We know fancy designer labels like Prada are willing and able to take fashion risks, but the spring 2010 look book for mass retailer H&M has some very surprising pieces for men. Like fringe jackets, tie-dye scarves, harem pants, and, um, skirts, to name a few. Sure Marc Jacobs himself can pull off a skirt, but can you picture even the most fashionably daring men you know seeking out and wearing a skirt from H&M? Read More »

Backstage at runway shows, makeup artists just looooooovvve to mix up the perfect lip color that we can't wait to try—but with, like, 20 unmarked shades from their palettes. That's why, after seeing the hot-hot-hot orange-red lips at the Prada spring show, we asked makeup artist Pat McGrath to share her recipe. Delicious! Read More »

From the runways onto department and drugstore shelves, I'm sure we'll see lots of fresh new makeup options and application techniques go full circle come March. Last month in New York, we saw six very wearable trends emerge, from peach lips to bold eyeliner to heavy-handed under-the-eye liners. But throughout the course of New York Fashion Week and other Spring 2010 shows, including Paris, London, and Milan, there were other looks that won't quite make the transition. Take this sequin forehead heart-shaped applique, for instance — straight from the Ungaro show in Paris, for which Lindsay Lohan acted as artistic adviser. While I appreciate each and every designer's artistic flair, some looks just won't translate to real life. Read More »

While Fashion Week in Paris and Milan are known for their luxurious and extravagant fashions, sometimes the designers push it a little too far. Alexander McQueen's avant guard looks reached new heights atop 10" heels, while lucite heels and dominatrix boots got a high-fashion twist. Think… Read More »

I've never been a huge fan of navy, but Ciara has me thinking twice. At the Originals by Originals Adidas launch in LA, the singer donned a modern navy cutout dress that exudes sleek style. Sizzle. You don't have to show skin — though I would — to exude this contemporary attitude, just focus on streamlined cuts, funky embellishments, and an avant-garde aesthetic. Hmmm, crisp cobalt also made a recent comeback. Could it be the return of blue? I think so . . .

Inspired by a poem about lost love...
During the course of my career as a consumer I have shopped in many stores: large stores, small stores, stores of such futuristic design that it was virtually impossible to decipher where the changing rooms were, and stores that were disguised as western… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (0) | Blog
