Just Do It: Top 5 Excuses for Not Exercising
Nike makes a great point. Those three simple words - Just Do It - really sums up a lot of things in life. Even when we know something is good for us or that we should be getting our butt in gear, it can be extremely hard to motivate. We, as a species, have become masters of... I want to be a runner
I want to be a runner. That's right, me. I've been talking about it for years. I see a runner as I'm driving in to work and I say out loud even to myself, "I want to run." I get these urges at random points in my day where I think "I should start running today."... Read More »

5 ways to stop procrastinating and get to the gym
We're all familiar with that sense of failure that accompanies going a few days, weeks, or, heck months without hitting the treadmill. You ask yourself, "Why do I suck so much? Why can't I do this? All I have to go is get myself to the gym, and POOF! I'll be in shape." It's... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

Pressure Produces Diamonds
Or so I've heard ;-) Got a 75/80 on that Political Science paper that I started 4 days before it was due (after having about two months to work on it) and not actually finishing until 20 minutes before I had to turn it in lol. Awesome for me, I say. That paper was a gem. Although, this does... Read More »

Under Pressure
*dum dum dum dum dum dum dum*No, but seriously, I have a PolySci paper due in about 32 hours that I haven't started yet. I'm pretty stressed about that, but I suppose it's my own fault. I've had since March to do it, but I had other things on my mind. *sigh* Oh well. If I manage to... Read More »

Don't put off until tomorrow...
… what you can do today. Yes, it’s another one of those nuggets of wisdom hiding in our common clichés and sayings. And what is this one telling us? STOP PROCRASTINATING. Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell – it’s just that this is a message most of us are very resistant to hearing.
Speaking for myself, when it comes to work (and school, when I was a student), I always get things done early. The second I’m given a professional or academic deadline, I’m off and running. I usually have my work done well in advance of the due date. My colleagues and former classmates would tell you that I never procrastinate. But when it comes to my personal goals… well, let’s just say that it’s a bit more challenging. Read More »

Procrastination – The Worst Traitor of All!
When I’m alone and all by myself, I’m thinking of things that I should do and those things that I MUST do… thinking that certain things should be done. But when I’m about to do it, there’s something inside me that wasn’t able to make things up. So I always end up to thinking and... Read More »

Fit Friday: 5 things to read instead of spreadsheets and to-do lists
It's the end of the week, people, and we know you are burned out on all the crap that normally fills up your days. I suggest you put a very stern look on your face, stare intently at the computer and conjure up your best community theater acting skills to make everyone around you think you are... Spring Sprang Sprung
It was so dark this morning, when I got up, and I couldn't figure out why. Daylight Savings Time, I thought. Right. With the darkness. But I don't get up so early that it should still be sun's-a-napping time, and I don't understand, so I will just lie here and doze, for a while, in... Read More »

Body of Work: Desk Job
In the back of my house, next to the kitchen, is a nook, separated by a block of cabinets and a little counter, where the kitchen table is supposed to go, in the minds of the people who planned the layout of my weird little apartment. But I decided, when I first moved in, that that was going to... Read More »
