The SATC Movie Aftermath: Kristen Davis designs clothes, SJP gets pissed, Kim Cattrall's in a new show, the film rakes in a gazillion dollars and...
OMG. So, so much has happened in just a few days. As you know (how could anyone not know?), the Sex and The City Movie premiered last Friday and it earned $55.7 mil over the weekend (the best showing ever for a romantic comedy, not to mention for a TV adaptation). And even though many of you thought it sucked with a capital S-U-C-K, the audience that went in for this nearly $60 million, was almost 85% female—an unqualified, blew-Indiana Jones-out-of-the-water success.
So what happens to the SATC phenomenon now?
Well...

Is this Carrie-esque nameplate necklace completely lame? I can no longer tell
I think I have a new disease. It's called Sex and The City fatigue. Symptoms include accepting tacky fashion as cute, empathizing with (and weeping over) self-centered, fictional characters whom I might never like in real life, and the inability to answer simple questions like, "Was the movie good?" "would you sleep with Aidan?" "Was Kim Cattrall a b*tch?" You see, for the past month I have been completely immersed in all things SATC. I've written about the ridiculous branding of the movie, I've (sometimes harshly) judged the ladies' red-carpet fashion, I paid tribute to the show's undeniably good style, and I've even interviewed the stars. And I can't do it anymore. It's like too much Thanksgiving dinner. Delicious while it lasted, but eventually you feel stuffed and catatonic and... Read More »

10 Years of 'Sex:' Real-life counterparts -- the sex + love columnist (blogger)
Sure, the fictitious New York Star had Carrie Bradshaw as its stellar sex columnist to cast out questions that her readers might or might not have answered. Did she really care what they had to say anyway? As Shine's Love + Sex editor/blogger, Erin Flaherty expertly guides a thought-provoking and very real conversation on sex and relationships every day. Here's what she has to say about the similarities between her life and the fictional Carrie's, and where they differ in a "big" way.

10 Years of 'Sex:' Real-life counterparts -- the art gallery owner(s)
Okay, so Charlotte wasn't really an art gallery owner, but she was a chic, smart gallery director before her life as a socialite who filled her days with impressive, oh-so-good volunteer pursuits. The three women who run Tria, an art gallery in Chelsea, NYC, are all co-owners. They met while taking gallery management courses at New York University, and each arrived there from very different careers: Carol Suchman ran a PR and marketing firm, Paige Bart was an attorney...hmm... and Latifa Metheny was a photographer, and model. "In our second year of classes, we were having lunch in Williamsburg and commented to one another that we, like Charlotte in 'Sex and the City,' could probably run a gallery, and do a great job of it," Suchman says.

Tria opened two years ago, and the three women represent approximately 20 artists who specialize in contemporary painting and mixed media. Suchman took some time from her day to let us in on similarities and differences in their lives and Charlotte's art gallery days:

10 Years of 'Sex:' Real-life counterparts -- the attorney
HBO
Miranda: Always the image of professionalism, she is a smart lawyer who works killer hours and is more comfortable in her office with her co-workers than at home with any of her boyfriends. Ahh, but her friends. With them she can be herself, give and get support, and let her guard down. Just a bit. Here's another attorney who knows just how important friends will always be.
