Starbucks Logo...Up in Fins
Apparently there is some uproar/protesting
of Starbucks logo change. Some groups of various sorts (parents and
religious groups mainly) are upset about the logo because in
Conan's words (paraphrased) it shows a topless mermaid spreading
her legs. 2 problems with this: A) the logo is a revert/update...

Grocery Shopping with a Toddler--One Mom's rant!
A suburban desert, 110 degrees, fireball sun, every slice of metal, silver, gold, rusted car parts about to drip onto asphalt lava, and we have to run errands…Pipsqueak shields his eyes from the afternoon UV rays in a spastic contortion that nearly knocks us both off balance, while he starts to say his new favorite words over and over, "Nice!" "Mice!" "Nice!" "Mice!"…Dear God, I'm thirsty--it would be wrong to drink whole milk from a sippy cup, right? There IS a Starbucks in here. But, I haven't wasted money on a chic drink since my days of working full time. It's been a year and a half--I don't remember the size chart for overpriced, ice-filled drinks…He better not pull a Jetson's maneuver and wheel out a robot to whip up my liquid dessert…I'm such a good decision maker (lick, sizzle on my tushie--well, that's how the movie version will capture it)! Shocker: Can you lose weight while eating carbs?
I've been playing with my nutrition plan recently, mostly messing with my carb intake. The last time I did this, I ended up gaining five pounds, which was pretty much the opposite of my goal. I'm a firm believer that I ingest way too many carbs, by simple virtue of the fact that if I were... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (17) | Blog

Free stuff: Get a 16-ounce vivanno today at your local bux for zero bucks
Apparently, I can't deal unless I've given you at least one bit of Starbucks news per week, but this is kind of a freebie: if you're interested in trying the new banana-rific Vivanno without shelling out four bones, Starbucks will be giving away 16 oz. Grande Vivannos between the hours... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (3) | Blog

Starbucks is cutting you off, missy
As part of my quest to cut down on empty HFCS calories, I've greatly reduced my reliance on Starbucks over the last few months. In fact, yesterday was the first coffee I've had in two weeks, and I only had some because my BFF brought it to me the morning after some spectacular BlogHer... Is Starbucks In Trouble?
By June of 2009, making a quick coffee stop may be hard. Starbucks is closing 616 of the 7,087 stores it currently owns by the first half of 2009. This means that 12,000 workers will find themselves jobless. Because the economy is in trouble right now, people are spending less money... Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (5) | Blog

Negligent Mommy
Like most mothers, I want to be a good Mama to my nippers. But some days, no matter how hard I try, I just don’t make the grade. And like most Moms, I feel flippin’ awful about it at the time. Today was one of those days. Before work, I dropped Queen Hadlifah off at... Read More »

Starbucks to close 600 stores. Do you care?
Seems lots of us are taking the lose-the-latte-habit advice to save money to heart. Starbucks announced it is closing 600 stores beginning this year, including the 100 stores it already said it would close.
AFP via Yahoo! News
Ah, but we all need that break the corner Starbucks offers. To take a few minutes to forget about work and all the must-dos. That's what we're buying as we step into the air-conditioned neighborhood coffee house and order a drink made special just for us.
Would you miss your local Starbucks if it were to close, or would you save a ton of bucks or maybe pour them into another local business instead ? Or have you been swearing off the costly stuff for awhile now? Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (44) | Blog
