As fall approaches and we start trading skirts for pants and bikinis for jackets, you have three options regarding that killer tan you (safely, of course) acquired:Option 1: Keep up your regular use of self-tanner so your glow never fades (but you may end up looking like this).
Options 2: Quit the self-tanner cold turkey and revert back to paleness (not a bad move if you like looking like this).
Or, Option 3 (my personal favorite): Keep the essence of that beachy look by using a lighter self-tanner or one less often. It's the best of both worlds: you don't look like a ghost all winter, nor do you look like a fake-bake, "cheeto" girl. See how to do it right here.

I've always been pretty
pasty myself. Once the summer months come, I have to get out my SPF
30 and spend minimal time on the beach, unless I want to turn into
a burned, freckled mess. While I use bronzer year round to keep
from looking corpse-like, I've given up on my self-tanner
regimen.… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (81) | Blog

We know we shouldn't but so many of
us still do: TAN. This past weekend I was at the beach with the
family. With all of the information out there telling people not to
tan because it can cause skin cancer and aging of the skin, I have
to tell you that as much as I can see, people are still… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (32) | Blog

As the summer begins, women have an important choice to make: Do I bravely bare my winter skin, translucent as it may be, and patiently wait for the sun? Or, do I fake it 'til I make it…

My guy friend said his skin was blinding pasty, and he needed to do something about it before hitting the beach. Putting my beauty-editor hat on, I suggested he try one of these self tanners (since no self-respecting beauty editor would recommend tanning in the sun or a booth -- the damage!).
Unfortunately, my suggestion was met with a burst of laughter and a claim that he'd "rather fry in the sun than use that stuff." Why? "Because if I did it wrong and you could see orange streaks, then people would know."
While images of these tangerine-hued celebs came to mind, I still tried to assure him that with these foolproof tips, it's totally possible to use self tanner without anyone suspecting. Sadly, I was unable to convince him. Taking off the beauty-editor hat, I realized maybe it is just too weird.
What do you think? Is it OK for guys to use self tanner or should we mock these artificially bronzed specimens? Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (5) | Blog
