You know that old saying that the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over but expecting different results? Well, that is how I knew I could avoid going insane…to change what I was doing.

I went in to work crazy-early yesterday, so that I could leave crazy-early and meet up with an old friend whom I hadn't seen in far too long. A coworker stopped by my desk as I was packing up, and so I explained what was going on. She gasped. "You're... actually doing something FOR YOURSELF?"

I found myself making a list of all of the things that I was going to get caught up on, all of the meetings that I needed to reschedule, get updated on all of the association meetings that I've missed and so on. I started feeling tired and frustrated, so I had to stop and take a step back and get myself together. This morning I had to evaluate all of the things that I have allowed myself to get involved in that could get me unbalanced. It's time I start to get out the scissors and start cutting some things off. Read More »

A study on how parents spend their day needs serious revision. We took care of it.
Momlogic's Momstrosity: In what seems like a huge time drain, The American Time Use Survey asked thousands of U.S. residents to keep detailed records of their days. Down to the minute. Then someone designed this crazy interactive graph. The only problem is I think their data is seriously flawed. Like this gem: "At 6:40 A.M., more than 58 percent of the adults living with one child are asleep." HUH??! I bet that sleep-deprived moms were so zoned out from sleepless nights, they wrote down how much sleep wish they got. That's some seriously damaged data.
