But guess what? So are many women. Gasp. You heard right. When it comes down to it many soccer moms can kick dad’s butt when it comes to installing the VCR, fixing the computer or programming the kid’s iPod. That’s right, the secret’s out. When you’re in the daily parenthood grind it’s easy to forget about life’s real dilemmas like cancer, global warming, or animal abuse. That’s why it’s so important to stay connected to what really matters: Giving Back.
Now that we’re on the right track and thinking about the planet’s problems what do we do about them? While some moms (and dads) are very committed to traditional charity work I don’t have time or honestly the energy to attend fundraisers, join the peace corps or follow in Angelina Jolle’s footsteps as the latest UN Goodwill Ambassador. By mommy.trackd, on Thu May 22, 2008 11:46am PDTLike it or not networking is a part of business. It’s a skill some have and some don’t. Before I had my daughter schmoozing was easy but now that I’m a tired mother of a toddler I’ve grown lazy and just don’t feel like kissing up to people.
Thanks to LinkedIn I don’t have to anymore, at least not in person. I can network in the privacy of my home office no matter what time of day or what I look like. I’ve landed several major business contacts in my ratty old pajamas. Whoever thought of this clever networking site deserves a big bank account and an even bigger box of chocolates.
