A judge has ruled that Christie Brinkley’s July 2 divorce trial to Peter Cook will remain open to the public, as she wished, because he believes "open courtrooms, in general and in divorce actions, may provide a basis for societal education." Despite the fact that a law guardian for the two children left some of the evidence revealed at the trial may harm them, Brinkley got her way and the kids—and all of America—can hear the gory details of their split. "Why would anyone be happy about that? It's putting herself in front of her children,” says Cook’s lawyer. But Brinkley’s lawyer countered, "The reality is he put himself way in front of his children and his wife when he made the awful decision to destroy the marriage. The trial will get at the truth, which is very important to Christie." Read More »

It may have taken six years to come to trial, but R. Kelly beat the system and was acquitted of child pornography after less than a day of deliberations. Did he make the sex tape with an underage girl or not? It’s hard to say. The alleged victim, now 23, who supposedly would have been as young as 14 in in the video, denied it was her. We saw it, and despite the fact that it looked unquestionably like the 41-year-old R&B singer (there was however a defense argument about a mole on his back that wasn’t in the video a la O.J. Simpson’s “the glove doesn’t fit” argument) Kelly was acquitted on all 14 counts. He faced up to 15 years in prison but now the singer, who pleaded not guilty when charged way back in 2002, will remain free to record dozens more chapters of "Trapped in the Closet" at his leisure. While we love R. Kelly as an artist and creative talent, his take on “movie director,” if you can call it that, may land him in jail for a long time. His much put-off trial for his alleged child pornography sex tape is underway, and while Kelly and his supposed co-star both deny participation, witnesses are all pointing fingers at them. Yesterday Lindsey Perryman, who worked as both a producer and personal assistant to Kelly, said while she initially didn’t think it was him, she is now “110 percent sure” that her boss is the man featured in the tape. Back in June 2002, R&B singer R. Kelly, 40, was indicted on child pornography charges and accused of filming himself having sex with an underage girl who may have been as young as 13. Kelly has denied the charges and finally is headed to trial on May 9, but some two new witnesses have surfaced... Read More »
