Oh, bleh. I hate individual-style crushing news like this. In a story in the New York Times yesterday, Anne Slowey, fashion news director for Elle magazine, announced that the dress is dead. She continued that we should all (or will all, presumably by force) be wearing trousers come September. I have nothing against pants (or as fashion people often call them "a pant"), but there is just no way that I will accept dresses are out of style. That's an entire category of clothes! It's like saying socks are out of style. Slowey's reason for autumn's impending dress slaughter? "The eye is looking for something new and so is the psyche...The dress has been done to death."
Will you stop wearing dresses, even once they're out of fashion?
