My kids love to play a game called the Great Marble Race. Consisting of plastic tubes and ports - similar to those hamster habit trails - they can spend hours concocting towers and slides. There are little dishes with holes that go at the top of the gantries which they place small marbles in. The true fun consists of putting the marbles in the colorful dishes and watching them scurry through the tunnels until they shoot out the bottom.

What began as an entertaining way to introduce colors and shapes ( Red, yellow, green one, two, three ) transformed over time into elaborate monoliths of childhood experiment. Building slowly and steadily taught my children how paying attention to details kept the structure in tact. But quick erections, without thought for future outcomes, often led to disaster.

Speaking of quick erections leading to future disaster, are you surprised that I'm led to sex? In watching my children play, I'm reminded to look at my marriage, and my sex life, with the same zeal. When I'm less than passionate, it's simply time to add someting new into my Great Marriage Race. Maybe when Rex gets home from his business trip we'll play something different.
