YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

I know, I know, the first day of the workweek is tough enough but stay with me on this. Loads of studies show that Monday is really the best time to kick off any get-healthy regimen for this simple reason: it represents a clean slate, which is vital when it comes to embracing a smarter lifestyle plus there's always another one right around the corner. Not convinced? Here are a few more reasons Monday is the greatest day when it comes to your health:

    It's a fresh start

Just like Friday always begs the question: what will I do this weekend? (i.e., eat, drink and be merry), Monday just naturally lends itself to a more practical point of view-it's the day you assess your workload, appointments, grocery shopping. Take stock of the week ahead with your new healthy habits in mind and plan accordingly.

The secret to loving your workout

    It's a 'trigger' day

Studies actually show that when it comes to embarking on any healthy activity, if you have a so-called trigger day-a set date or reminder-you're more likely to follow through. Even better? Monday rolls around every 7 days, as opposed to say, once year, like Jan 1st, so even if you get off track, another Monday is just around the corner.

It's preceded by 48 hours of free(ish) time

This matters because you have two free days to prepare, and launching into a new healthy routine without planning sets you up for failure-how can you eat healthier if there's nothing healthier in the house to eat? Use these days to grocery shop, dig out your workout clothes, write up a schedule, give your junk food to the neighbors. Whatever it take to get you into the healthy living mindset.

    Burn calories all weekend.

What motivates you to stick with a diet and exercise plan? Looking good in a bikini? Feeling great naked? Just wanting to be healthier?

My favorite thing about these comments is that those who are discussing the author's mistakes in grammar and style are also using "loose" for "lose" and writing in all lower case, as though e.e. cummings was leaving the comment. Just don't read this stuff. Most of it IS filler and junk and poorly written---because it will be gone in a matter of days.

for me any day is a good day to start your activity for the week. Just keeping the scheduale is the challenge.

I find this article funny because I do the exact opposite. I consistenetly work out 6 days a week and Monday has always been my rest day for 5+ years! I hate Mondays since it is the start of the corporate work week and I am not a a huge working out fan - it is just a necessary evil - so knowing that I don't have to work out on Monday makes Monday so much more tolerable. Just a different way of thinking, I guess.

Absolutely great article - and spot on! I lost 55 pounds with this same mentality. Even when I would fall off the wagon, another Monday was right around the corner, as you mentioned.

The only thing is please grammar check these articles before posting. There are missing articles like 'a' or 'an', and it would be shame to have those be distractions when the writing itself is so well done. :)

“Recently, I lost 85 pounds and I don’t know how to describe how great I feel! I am loving the new me along with everyone and everything around me! All of my dreams are now possible! Thank You!” This is a comment which I received last week. I totally agree. Monday is a day to start things off amazing. positive vibes on Monday will show you how your week throughout will be like. Ive been doing a lot of research on The Secret, Laws of Attraction. Its amazing! Even went out and bought a book of one of the authors of The Secret called No Matter What by Lisa Nichols. Its amazing! Def. a must watch/read! and when you have this down, your workouts and even work field and home life can result into a complete 360 and uplifting!

You're an editor for a national magazine and didn't see the semantic error of writing "proceed" (as opposed to writing "precede")? I hope (but doubt) you were referring to the following Tuesday and Wednesday, and not the weekend...if that's the case then "proceed" would be appropriate....

In the heading of the last section, the word should be preceded, not proceeded. Why should we even consider the validity of this article when it's so incompetently written.

I think people automatically feel a certain drive to go to the gym on Monday. I've found that to be the busiest day for our local fitness center.

Did we need a study for this....most people gorge themselves before starting a diet/exercise program. They keep the weekend free for eating out, Sunday dinners, and such. However, I liked Ron's answer: Tomorrow being the best day!

If your serious about a workout plan and want to pick a day.....pick friday! This will test your will right off the bat. If you can't abstain from going out the first free time you get off work what makes you think your work-out regimen will last?
