Officials are trying to ensure that no one turns any piece of Ariel Castro's former home into macabre keepsake. The remains of the Cleveland house of horrors where Castro held three women against their wills for more than a decade will be trucked to an undisclosed landfill where the planks will be shredded and pulverized before being allowed to rot.
Cleveland kidnapping survivor Michelle Knight stood outside the boarded-up, two-story house where Ariel Castro held her and two other women for a decade, releasing dozens of yellow balloons as heavy construction equipment began to tear down the house that was her prison.
An internationally known expert on sex offenders, Anna Salter says Ariel Castro's behavior wasn't about sexual urges. It related to his psychopathic lack of a conscience and inability to care about other human beings.
