An Ohio judge sentenced Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro to life in prison for abducting, raping and holding captive three women for as long as 11 years, and murder for forcing one of the women to abort her pregnancy.
Three months after an Ohio woman kicked out part of a door to end nearly a decade of captivity, Ariel Castro faces sentencing for kidnapping three women and subjecting them to years of sexual and physical abuse. With the possibility of the death penalty for a forced miscarriage taken off the table, Castro stands to get life in prison plus 1,000 years on Thursday.
A man authorities have compared to an Ohio serial killer pleaded not guilty to charges he killed three women and left their bodies wrapped in plastic bags near his suburban Cleveland apartment. 35 year old Michael Madison appeared in a Cleveland courtroom on 14 charges including aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping.
