The television ratings' ramp up for football season started with NBC's first preseason game of the year. Fast National returns gave the Dallas Cowboys' victory over the Miami Dolphins an average 3.3 rating among adults aged 18 to 49. That's up three-tenths of a point, or 10 percent, from the initial returns from last year's first preseason game.
Gary Lineker is a soccer legend -- he's even been enshrined in England's Football Hall of Fame -- which is why it's a little shocking that someone with his experience and soccer knowledge believes Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Pele. Lineker -- who's now a popular soccer analyst -- was leaving STK when he was asked how Ronaldo's career compares to Pele's. "Ronaldo is Ronaldo," Lineker said ... "He's better than Pele."
A person familiar with deliberations told The Associated Press that Major League Baseball has informed the New York Yankees that Alex Rodriguez will be suspended Monday but can play while he appeals the penalty. The Yankees were not told the exact length of the suspension, but were left under the impression it will be through the 2014 season, the person said.
