Ways to motivate your guy to lose weight

Weight gain happens in a lot of relationships, especially the longer the couple is together. People tend to get comfortable and/or mirror their partner's eating habits, so before long, you may start to notice that your guy is putting on weight. The last thing you want is your guy to be in poor health and develop unhealthy habits. If your guy is working hard to lose weight, the best way to get him to continue is through positive reinforcement. There are several ways you can encourage your guy to drop weight and develop a healthy lifestyle.

    Leave positive notes

Whether it's jotting down that your guy looks hot or telling him you're proud of him, leave little notes where he can find them. Stick a post-it on the bathroom mirror, put one in his coat pocket or if he takes his lunch, put one in the bag with the food. Don't be surprised if he holds onto them for motivation.

Touch him in the right places

Guys can be just as self-conscious about their body as women, so make sure to let your guy know just how much you love the way he looks even if he's packed on a few pounds. For example, if he's been working hard to shrink a beer belly, put your hands on his stomach and tell him how sexy he looks. Let him know how much he turns you on and he'll likely be more inspired to keep up the workouts.

Let him catch you checking him out

Sometimes you don't even have to say a word for a guy to know how much you want him. When he comes in from a workout, check him out from head-to-toe. One look can completely give him a huge ego boost.

Go with him to work out

Having a workout partner is a huge way to keep motivated. If he doesn't want to go and you do, he's not only letting himself down, he's letting you down as well and chances are he doesn't want that to happen. Go with him to work out and it's a chance to bond, lose weight yourself and keep him motivated.

    Change your eating habits

Both individuals in a relationship tend to pick up the eating habits of the other, so when you're more likely to eat healthy, so will he. Start eating breakfast and more balanced meals and avoid junk food and soda. It also helps to cook at home more often. Even small changes can make a big difference.

Support your guy in his weight loss without nagging him and he's going to be much more motivated to succeed. When you're trying to lose weight, having someone cheer you on can mean everything. It helps significantly to know you're not going at it alone.
