Fur Real! 5 Celebs Who Are Pro-fur … and 5 Who Aren't

Celebs who are pro- and anti-furLions and tigers and bears … oh my! No, we're not taking a trip to the zoo, we're just looking through the furry closets of Hollywood moms. While some celebrities won't let PETA … or any animal (sorry, Bambi) … stand in their way of rocking the latest furry fashions, others hold strong to their anti-fur activism.

We've compiled a hairy-ed list of five celebrities who aren't afraid to get their fur on … and five who prefer petting animals to wearing them.







Pro-Fur Ladies:

Jennifer Lopez
1. Jennifer Lopez
Jenny from the block may have Marc Anthony off her back … but sadly we can't say the same for her and PETA. J. Lo continues to be hounded by the animal rights group for her frequent use of fur in her clothing line.

Hip-hop superstar Beyonce has long been criticized for her fur-wearing ways. While PETA was happy to see her abandon fur last winter, they can't be thrilled with the fur stole she's seen wearing in her latest album cover. There's nothing like a fur relapse to put your life in perspective.


Kate Moss

It's not everyday PETA eases up on a repeat fur-wearing offender - but alas, Kate Moss has been spared. Sort of. While her furry fashion faux pas are still detested by the animal rights group, Kate has been slightly reprieved for her willingness to try making her Mondays "meat-free."


Nicole Richie

For someone who loves dogs so much, especially her pet pomeranian, Foxy Cleopatra, we're surprised this Simple Life star and mom of two still walks around wearing fur coats.

This material girl has done more than make her way to the top of Billboard Magazine's music charts. She earned a spot on PETA's worst-dressed list for 2006, but she was spotted earlier this year donning a black fur coat and hat, so the dig doesn't seem to have fazed her.

Pamela Anderson

A longtime vegetarian and anti-fur advocate for PETA, Pamela Anderson debuted her latest animal-friendly endeavor - her face on a vegetarian PETA postage stamp - just in time for animal-lovers to stamp their holiday greeting cards.


Christina Applegate
2. Christina Applegate
Although Christina wasn't always an anti-fur advocate (she admitted to PETA that she wore a little fur coat when she was 6), she's completely animal-friendly today. In 2007 she bared it all for a PETA holiday anti-fur ad campaign.

Christina Applegate isn't the only anti-fur advocate who stripped down for the animals; supermodel Christy Turlington also joined the brave (and we imagine, cold!) ranks of PETA advocates who would "rather go naked than wear fur."

Apparently real live animals aren't PETA activist Heather Mills' only furry friends. Back in 2005 Heather helped J.Crew (and a giant woodland fox mascot) advertise their new fur-free ways. Heather, we applaud your foxiness … or should we say anti-foxiness?

Looks like animal rights activism runs in the family! Since 2002, Heather Mills' stepdaughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney, has made sure that her collections are 100% fur-free.
