Diddy, Puffy, Puff Daddy-he's so self-indulgent he renames himself as his ego grows.
- Rebecca Harrington, BettyConfidential.com
In the movie, Get Him To The Greek, Sean "Puffy" Combs, plays a cocky record executive desperate to get impulsive rocker Aldous Snow (played by impulsive actor Russell Brand) to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Puffy has been getting rave reviews in the role, which didn't seem like too much of a stretch for him.
This led us to reflect: What were some of Diddy's real life cockiest moments? And here they are!
1. Umbrella holders are essential to avoid arm-exhaustion.
In 2001, Combs hired Derek Watkins, a former employee of Ralph Lauren to be as his valet and personal umbrella holder. Diddy even gave Watkins a new name, Fonzworth Bentley. Watkins' thoughts on his new moniker "It was the most sickening thing I could have ever thought of." What do umbrella holders/valets do all day, you ask? Duties included picking up Diddy's Caramel Macchiatos from Starbucks and picking out his clothing.
2. Ciroc Obama
According to the New York Post, in 2010, after Puffy inked a $100 million deal with Ciroc vodka, he took to calling himself "Ciroc Obama" further adding, "If you're not drinking Ciroc vodka, then you're drinking pee pee." Eventually, after much ire from other vodka purveyors, Diddy publicly apologized for his "pee pee" comments, by saying "We're sorry for being the best," while drinking Ciroc Vodka in a bubble bath.
3. Perfume named "I Am King."
Self-explanatory right? According to the I Am King website, Diddy "exemplifies" what a true King is. Well, now we know. The Times Square billboard for the cologne is the largest advertisement in the entire Square. Are you surprised? What is surprising is that he doesn't have a plane sky write daily, "I Am King" across the city skyline.
4. The little people can walk over a bridge to fetch my cheesecake.
On a very special episode of Making the Band 2, Diddy cemented his status as the cockiest boss ever, when he made his BIC (band-in-training) walk from midtown Manhattan to DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn to get him a slice of Junior's Cheesecake. I guess the Grand Central Station location's cheesecake isn't quite up to par for his royal Diddy.
5. Doesn't everyone get a Maybach for his or her 16 th ?
Often parents will purchase their child an old, rusty car for their sixteenth birthday-if he or she is lucky. Diddy bought his son, Justin, a $360,000 Maybach with a chauffeur for his 16 th , complete with a driver (of course). Chump change!
