The two were rumored to share a rivalry, after constantly being pitted against each other for screen-time. Radner's Baba Wawa and Rosannadana may have stolen the spotlight but Newman had her own contributions to the original comedy boys' club: Sheri The Valley Girl and Connie Conehead, to name a few. less

    You won't find any Blues Brothers or Lazy Sunday rappers on Monday night's Saturday Night Live special. This two-hour retrospective is all about the ladies. Former Head Writer Tina Fey and breakout star Amy Poehler have ferried in some of the funniest sketches the show has ever seen. And the debut of the Bravo "Housewives" reunion spoof featuring Andy Cohen is no exception. A look back at other female titans of SNL through the years--from Cheri Oteri and Ana Gasteyer to Gilda Radnor and Nora Dunn--prove that busting open Lorne Michael's perennial boys club changed the face of comedy. But there's some unsung heroines of the show who never get their due. Maybe it was the writers, the era or the competing cast-mates who stole the spotlight, but these 8 women deserve their own round of applause for their contribution to the series. After all, they rarely get it.
